In addition to manufacturing our own lines of all natural and gluten free, great tasting products, we also manufacture nutrition bars for a wide array of companies in the health food industry.
Position Overview:
As a result of our growth we are now seeking a Food Technician in our Research and Development department.
Responsibilities:
The Research and Development Food Technician will provide new product Research and Development and will have the following responsibilities:
- Perform new product research and development and facilitate product improvement projects.
- Use creativity and innovation to solve technical related problems.
- Communicate with vendors and clients on all technical related issues.
- Partner with customers to identify product formulation and application technical support.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to customers, sales and production.
- Have a strong sense of purpose, works will with minimal supervision and is assertive in the pursuit of quality and accuracy.
- Organize and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and communicating status.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Nutrition or closely related field with at least 2 or more years of Research and Development experience at a food processing company.
- Must have good computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Genesis R&D SQL.
- Working knowledge of food ingredients, interactions and nutritional levels.
- Working knowledge of product labeling.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively on a team.
- Strong problem solving, time management and acute sensory skills.
- The ideal applicant will have experience working with natural and organic foods, knowledge of GMP's, food safety regulations for manufacturing and knowledge of sensory and sampling techniques.
- Top applicants will have Research and Development experience with nutrition bars and cookies.
Compensation: Salary for this employment opportunity is dependent on experience. The Betty Lou's compensation programs include, but are not limited to: medical, prescription drug, dental and vision insurance, and 401K. We also have life, short-term and disability insurance available.
