PECI is an energy efficiency consulting agency that designs and implements energy efficiency programs and research for utility companies and governmental agencies. Position Overview:

PECI is looking for an Accountant to work in our fast-paced and dynamic accounting department in a team environment. The accounting department at PECI has grown substantially over the past several years and has been instrumental in process and system improvements for the company. The ideal candidate will be a self starter with drive and initiative; someone who enjoys ambiguity and works well in a dynamic and growth-oriented environment. A desire to improve processes and procedures with the patience to work within the perimeters of current systems is a must.

The primary objective of all positions within the accounting department is to produce accurate and timely financial information, in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and keep the company in compliance with all laws, rules and regulations for financial and other administrative record keeping and reporting. The position will report to the Project Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare general ledger journal entries
  • Integrate bank account transaction and reconcile to General Ledger via bank module
  • Review and approve invoice coding for project related expenses
  • Review and coordinate month-end and year-end closing procedures to ensure all the books are closed timely and accurately
  • Reconcile general ledger balance sheet accounts, such as program incentives and rebates payable
  • Assist with annual compilations, reviews and audits
  • Assist with implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures
  • Responsible for updating and revising position procedures and tactical write-ups, subject to review by management
  • Review and analyze the organization's accounting operation and recommends improvements
  • Creating and review profit and loss analysis for all projects to decipher variance drivers
  • Reviewing department budget vs. actuals and analyzing variances
  • Maintaining month end control lists to ensure completion of department duties
  • Mentor lower level staff and assist with problem solving
  • Assist or perform other duties and analysis as assigned by the Accounting Manager
  • Assist with any internal audit needs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
  • Project accounting knowledge; experience working in a project module and managing the accounting function of a project
  • Advanced Excel knowledge required
  • Knowledge of Great Plains or other similar accounting system required
  • Strong, interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively (prioritize, and multi-task) in a team environment is essential
  • Exceptional customer service skills required
  • Ability to be detailed, meticulous and organized when reviewing and presenting numbers or data
  • Experience in writing process and procedure documents to a targeted audience
  • Ability to work autonomously and able to multi-task
