Position Overview:
As a Construction Project Manager at Terra-Gen Power you'll join a team of development and construction project management veterans now in the pre-construction phases of two new geothermal power plants in Nevada. These two new plants will expand Terra-Gen's existing geothermal generating portfolio from three to five facilities. The core responsibility of this job is to represent the owner's interests as Construction Project Manager from pre-construction through turn over to operations as fully functioning plants; built on time, on budget and to plan.
You will organize and execute all necessary steps to achieve the result from the engineering, procurement and construction perspectives. The scope of responsibility includes the successful integration of project design, engineering, BOP contract negotiations, budgeting, scheduling, financial reporting, project controls, changes orders, and site management supervision. You will be expected to manage the financial aspects of the project thinking strategically, crafting contracts and knowing the terms of each and every contract inside and out.
You'll be part of a team working on engineering, procurement, scheduling, cost accounting data and analysis to provide a key prospective and identify critical elements that have current or potential impact on Terra-Gen's development, construction or operations efforts.
Depending on your personal situation, the work location for this position could be either the Reno NV or San Diego CA office. It is expected that the first year on the job will be primarily working out of the office setting up construction execution and EPC contracts. This includes, working on the facility design based on the results of exploratory drilling.
You'll be responsible for providing all necessary support to the development team until the projects are released for construction with the necessary financing in place. The two projects will be in construction for a total of 30 months with the second project starting 6 months after the first. During construction, your time will be partially in the office and frequently on site in the two Nevada desert locations, working with the site crews and the general contractor.

Responsibilities:
- Bring in projects on time and at or under budget. Represent the owner's interests.
- Be responsible for all financial monitoring, controls and reporting for project.
- Maintain and regularly report a 3 week planning horizon on the entire project.
- Integrate project design, engineering, procurement with contract negotiations for BOP .
- Lead construction bid process including bid documents, proposals and contractor recommendations.
- Approve all draw requests against contract, change orders, budget and schedule.
- Negotiate all change orders in coordination with project cost accounting and finance.
- Provide overall leadership for site management team and coordination of activities.
- Coordinate utility and geothermal plant SCADA requirements.
- Manages consulting engineering support as required.
- Report regularly to Construction VP, upper management and construction lenders.
- Follow all company safety and environmental policies and practices. Perform all work safely within company policies and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications:
Primary Requirements:
- 8+ years Construction Project management in directly related power industry projects and/or geothermal power construction at comparable levels of responsibil ity.
- Demonstrated ability to bring complex, high value ($250M +) geothermal or similar power construction projects in on time and at or under budget.
- Proven ability to define scope of RFQ, solicit and negotiate major BOP contracts.
- Proficiency estimating ongoing budgeting and project controls.
- Proven ability to prioritize issues as to cost, schedule, project impact and strategic project goals.
- Thorough understanding of construction contract concepts, languages, terms and operations. Demonstrated ability to use contracts effectively to protect owner's interests.
- Familiarity with turbine engines and power construction practices.
- Competent in operating MS Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and construction management software such as MS Project or Primavera.
- Locally based candidates in Reno NV or San Diego CA area are preferred or a willingness to relocate independently.
- "Can do!" attitude with the flexibility to adjust course in a highly dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
Travel Requirement:
- 30% or more often to remote desert locations requiring walking on rugged terrain.
Educational Requirement:
- BS in Power Systems, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.

Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000/year depending on experience and education. Bonus eligible.
