Position Overview:
- Optimize materials capital expenditures and be the regional expert on freight and logistics
- Drive consistency in key business processes for all business units in the Americas
- Improve consistency and utilization of ERP/MRP systems within materials and inventory functions
- Achieve cost savings while driving CI philosophy to Americas' inventory handling & storage processes
Responsibilities:
- Improve inventory capital position; drive inventory accuracy and reduction, pursue cost reductions, optimize warehouse space and inventory material handling practices
- Provide business unit Material Managers with freight and logistics expertise; inbound RM's, freight forwarder, transport equipment and expedites. Optimize road, rail and water as necessary.
- Support MRP systems consistency across business units through SAP implementation or Axapta upgrades
- Communicate and negotiate with various carriers and associated suppliers
- Help implement visual management techniques such as KanBans where optimal
- Coordinate related monthly metrics
- Develop materials handling and inventory strategy
- Spend time at existing or new facilities getting materials up to speed; travel minimum 25%
- Work hand-in-hand with various groups to help drive continuous improvement philosophy
- Drive inventory and materials handling cost reduction initiatives, kaizens, etc.
- Provide purchasing assistance both regionally and to business units when needed
- Support new plant launches in various materials management functional areas
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in transportation/logistics, operations, engineering or business
- Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing environment and 7-10 years of management/supervisory experience
- Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, prefer SAP and/or Axapta knowledge
