The CleanTech QuickStart® Program was created to introduce the program participants to the rapidly emerging and diverse opportunities available in the Green/Clean Tech Industry. Designed to provide the Student intern with a solid foundation of Green/Clean Tech knowledge, skills and know-how, the program combines an educational component, including reading materials and experiential learning projects, with networking and other events that will give the participant exposure to industry professionals in Green/Clean Tech businesses and organizations.

Position Overview:

The volunteer program will provide you with exciting learning opportunities on one or more of the following local and New York State-based projects:

  • 2010 Advanced Energy Conference: the project team will identify and contact potential sponsors and exhibitors for this high-profile conference produced by the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC) at Stony Brook University. This annual event attracts a global audience, including attendees, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors from throughout the U.S. and the world.
  • Clean Tech Company Census: the project team will identify, research and document Clean Tech businesses within New York State.
  • Clean Tech Education Census: the project team will identify, research and document College, University, Trade School and other cleantech educational and training programs within New York State.
  • Clean Tech Jobs Website: the project team will research, analyze and organize existing and emerging Green/Clean Tech job sites and job categories, recruiting firms, and Clean Tech companies utilizing a three-phase methodology.

As a member of the CleanTech QuickStart® Program, you will gain valuable business experience in many of the following areas:

  • Data mining and research skills
  • Report and spreadsheet development

  • Professional business communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Time management
  • Problem solving

Qualifications: 

Our ideal candidate will have an interest in the Green/Clean Tech economy and be open to learning as much as possible about the industry. We are looking for mature individuals with the ability to make the time commitment to be an active, responsible and contributing volunteer. Good communication and computer skills are required, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
