At Clipper, our core business supports clean, renewable wind energy-the world's fastest growing energy source. From project development to wind turbine design and manufacturing, construction, O&M and everything in between, we're expanding our energetic, results-driven global team.
Position Overview:
Cultivate external funding from states and the federal government, academia, or other private investment / venture capital sources to support the current internal technology roadmap and future technology development objectives. Interface with universities to ensure Clipper's active participation in the academic sector.
Responsibilities:
- Work with product planning, program management, and engineering research and development (R&D) groups to understand key products or technologies where external funding can / should be leveraged.
- Research funding opportunities available from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E), as well as other state and local governments.
- Establish relationships with universities or other private investors and leverage off of available funding to achieve technical objectives or other corporate goals.
- Cultivate funding opportunity funnel / database to track and manage opportunities as well as proposals submitted.
- Coordinate and lead proposal writing efforts for R&D funding.
- Lead cross-functional internal meetings to cultivate project proposal ideas, prioritize funding opportunities, and down-select proposal submission candidates.
- Manage internal bid and proposal (B&P) budget.
- Contract negotiations on successful bids.
- Contract administration and reporting.
- Track and benchmark competitor funding secured.
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- The successful candidate will have a track record of successful bids.
- B.S. degree in Engineering required.
- MBA strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to edit and compose proposal text and correspondence and to present company information articulately.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Able to effectively manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be detail oriented.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and/or DFARs is a major plus.
- Experience with DOE/DOD contract negotiation, administration, and reporting.
- Prior experience in preparing proposals and securing funding.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience with the windpower industry.
