The U.S. Green Building Council is a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 19,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability.
Position Overview:
The U.S. Green Building Council is seeking an individual knowledgeable of LEED and green building issues as well as experienced in event management to manage the USGBC Conference and Events platform of program program content, including Greenbuild programs, Residential, International, Special Programs and Green Jobs, as well as the program content of the annual Federal Summit. The Event Content Manager will provide expertise in event program content management while handling coordination of event logistics, and monitoring and management of contractors/vendors
Responsibilities:
- Monitor performance of contractors and vendors in support of the Conference & Events program content platform; specifically manage database contract for proposals and assist with management of the registration contract
- Manage the Greenbuild Program Content working group (Schedule calls, take and report minutes, research speakers, and programming)
- Manage all speaker and reviewer communication through vendors as well as manage all of USGBC speaker customer service
- Serve as the main liaison for conference A/V contract. Provide speaker a/v updates to contractor as requested and ensure that all speakers submit a/v requests and handle all onsite a/v requests
- Responsible for ensuring editing and updating all program information on the USGBC website, marketing materials as well as ensuring CEU information is captured from all program submissions
- Manage the contract for the production of conference proceedings CD-Rom, handle billing reconciliation and support the marketing on the website, registration system and onsite process
- Serve as the department expert on technology that can enhance the meeting experience. Responsible for researching new trends and opportunities related to technology
- Assist in managing USGBC staff, vendors, temps and interns for onsite execution of the conference, specifically related to the program and educational sessions.
Assist Conference Event Manager in planning and support of committee meetings as needed, specifically onsite support for Federal Summit, International and Residential Events - Accept additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by Conference Director and Vice President
Qualifications:
Education and Training Requirements/Preferences
- Bachelors degree required
- LEED-AP or Green Associate preferred
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 4 years progressively responsible and successful program experience with association or other organization
Other Required Skills and Qualifications
- Overall knowledge/experience of program event planning including registration, logistics, CEUs, program development, and audio/visual
- Budget planning and reporting
- Excellent written communication
- Strong strategic, tactical, and linguistic skills

- Strong Computer skills including demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management, internet, e-mail
