Position Overview:

The Manager(s) will support BSR's industry-wide consulting services with particular focus on executing client work and conducting business development across an array of industries, but with a strong preference for:

  • information & communications technology,
  • food, agriculture & beverage industries,
  • media, and/or
  • travel & tourism.

The position(s) are full-time and are based in New York and San Francisco.

Responsibilities:

Business Advisory Services:

The Manager(s) will play an integral role in delivering consulting services to member and non-member companies, especially in the (a) information & communications technology, and (b) food, agriculture & beverage industries. Areas of project focus may include:

  • corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance assessment and reporting,
  • strategy development,
  • social risk identification and management,
  • community development program design,
  • stakeholder engagement,
  • sustainable development,
  • environmental sustainability, 
  • human rights.

Business Development and Recruitment:

The Manager(s) will have significant responsibility for recruiting new member companies and will play a leadership role in identifying and developing new business opportunities.

Grants and Partnership Development:

The Manager(s), in conjunction with the Director, Partnership Development may also support efforts to develop and manage grant-related work. BSR carries out significant foundation and government funded work to research and develop new tools, guides and methodologies that advance the field of CSR.

Internal Practice Management:

In partnership with BSR's Industry Directors, the Manager(s) will fulfill certain internal management responsibilities including: contributing to the development of AS strategy, planning and budgeting, training and professional development of the AS consultants, and interfacing with other programs, departments and teams within BSR.

Qualifications:

Note: ONLY candidates with these specific requirements will be considered:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, law, public policy, environmental management or other relevant discipline; Master's degree preferred.
  • Significant experience (at least 5 years) in CSR, with deep environmental expertise.
  • The ideal candidate would offer a combination of consulting experience and corporate-level experience interacting with multinational company personnel.
  • Demonstrated work experience in and cultural understanding of one of: (a) information & communications technology, (b) food, agriculture & beverage industries, (c) media, and/or (d) travel & tourism.
  • Consulting experience and/or proven ability to perform the key functions of a consultant, including: developing and maintaining client relationships; pursuing and creating business opportunities; and managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Well-developed leadership and people skills, including a demonstrated ability to enhance the skills and effectiveness of other team members.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and facilitation skills.
  • Willingness to undertake business travel (~ 25% time).
  • Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced entrepreneurial organization with a collaborative environment.
