Position Overview:
We have up to 5 openings for interns during the summer of 2010. The actual tasks may change depending on the skill sets of the successful candidates. We are seeking interns for 10 to 12 weeks between May and September. The internships are unpaid positions. Each intern will work closely with a mentor from our professional staff. Four positions will be in our San Francisco, California head office and one in our Washington, DC office.
Responsibilities:
Origination and Pipeline Development Intern will assist our Origination and Pipeline Development teams in a variety of tasks, including:
- Help structure and organize client and project opportunities information;
- Assist as we source new opportunities, qualify, and then track and monitor leads and prospects;
- Undertake reviews of published literature and online research to generate project specific background for feasibility studies, including carbon estimates, drivers of deforestation, land tenure, etc.;
- Gather and synthesize emerging and existing research on various project development related issues, including land tenure, carbon regulations, market standards, biochar, etc.
Legal Intern will work with our Pipeline Development and Finance Teams on the following tasks:
- Initiate a complete review of all current business documentation templates;
- Develop templates of legal contracts for feasibility studies and carbon development work;
- Develop template option agreements to obtain carbon development rights from landholders;
- Refine disclaimers which accompany reports issued by the company.
Remote Sensing and Environmental Science Intern work with our Technical Team on a variety of tasks, including:
- Developing biomass standard operating procedures and templates for field sampling designs;
- Work with our professionals to test analytical tools for our project participants, such as web-based information systems and incorporating handheld instrumental data into our proprietary land use change model;
- Assist our professionals in using remote sensing data to build models for our projects.
Finance and Investment Intern work with our Finance and Investment Team on a variety of tasks:
- Refine our financial modeling capabilities - requires strong excel modeling skills;
- Standardize due diligence templates
- Create client reporting templates
