The University of Victoria and the Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium are seeking applications for the position of Director, Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium.

The Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium (PCIC) is a not-for-profit corporation, hosted by the University of Victoria and funded (with an annual budget of $1.5 million dollars) through a combination of endowment funding and contracts with government and industry. The mission of PCIC is to quantify the impacts of climate change and variability on the physical environment in Pacific North America.

The Director is also the President and CEO of the Corporation and reports to the Board of Directors.

Qualifications: 

Qualifications, attributes and skills of the ideal candidate would include:

  • Experienced and visionary with a passion for climate science and the field of adaptation to climate variability and change
  • Integrity and stature in the climate science community
  • Proven leadership and management experience of research organizations
  • Strong commitment to collaboration with stakeholders and the academic community
  • Track record in developing extramural cooperation between experts
  • Education (PhD) and sound record of publications in fields germane to PCIC foci
  • Highly competent at communicating climate science to broad audience
  • Ability to communicate with leaders in government, academia and industry about PCIC and its mandate
  • Eligibility to hold an academic appointment at the University of Victoria.
