Senior Scientist in Electrochemistry and Li-ion Battery

At Cal Nanomoly Development, Inc. (CNM), we believe that the future of our globe depends to a large extend on clean technology and clean energy.  We are developing molybdenum and other trace element based nano-materials (Nanomoly materials) that will:

• Power our planet with efficient energy storage systems that use the unique electrochemical characteristics of Nanomoly materials.
• Improve the efficiency of solar cell systems with Nanomoly materials.
• Produce Nanomoly material based catalytic systembs for better oil refining systems and cleaner burning of gas and coal

Position Overview:

The position is immediately available to develop / improve active composite materials for use in Li-ion battery electrodes.

Responsibilities:

• synthesis different compounds using both classic and novel synthetic techniques;
• characterization the crystal, micro and nanostructure of the materials;
• evaluate and design the latest electrode formulation;
• evaluate the properties of the materials as electrodes and investigate the factors that influence their performance using electrochemical techniques;
• analyze and present results in the form of manuscripts and reports;
• carry out collaborative research with research associates/visiting scientists with frequent meetings and discussions;
• collaborate in the development of research proposals and new scientific initiatives, as needed.

Qualifications:

• A recent Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a closely related field.
• Expertise in solid-state chemistry, especially in the synthesis of nanometric materials, crystallography and transmission electron microscopy.
• Familiarity with rechargeable battery assembling and testing and electroanalytical techniques.
• Exceptionally good written and oral communication skills.
• The ability to work as an independent researcher with a high level of scientific judgment and initiative.
• Participation in collaborative efforts as a member of a diverse research team.
• Demonstrated ability to formulate, plan, and conduct research with defined objectives and deliverables within budget and on schedule

Compensation: We offer an excellent benefits package and salary $65k+ depending on experience. Knowledge of Chinese language is preferred.
