Position Overview:
PECI's Light Commercial HVAC business line provides energy efficiency solutions that optimize packaged heating, cooling and ventilation systems for small to mid-size commercial buildings. The position of Senior Technical Manager is a strategic leadership role charged with creating the technical roadmap for our unitary HVAC energy efficiency programs.
PECI is seeking industry leading expertise in HVAC diagnostics, energy savings calculation and modeling, HVAC system controls, and data analysis to define the technical basis for our light commercial HVAC programs. The Senior Technical Manager will provide technical vision and analytical rigor to program design, technician training, implementation and evaluation.
Specific job responsibilities may include evaluating and applying technical research, calculating energy savings potential and best-fit applications, creating and presenting work papers and thought-leading industry white papers, guiding technician curriculum development, and verifying product claims and applications.
This professional will lead a matrixed team of energy professionals to expedite the deployment of our technical vision and bolster PECI's position as technical leaders in applied development and execution of HVAC efficiency programs. In defining PECI's unitary HVAC technical direction, the Senior Technical Manager will act as an intermediary between utility clients, engineering, internal research, and program management personnel.
In addition, the senior technical manager will represent PECI externally in leading edge technical forums. Mentoring, training and developing others are critical components of the job. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated commitment to energy efficiency initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership for emerging programs
- Provide guidance for measure creation and best-fit application
- Assist in development of work papers for deemed savings
- Evaluate modeling approach and verification methodologies
- Provide insight and program strategy to address EM&V considerations
- Define protocol development with input from field staff, external subject experts, and HVAC engineering
- Outline financial implications for development of new technical measures and incentives
- Provide economic analysis for cost of ownership (replacement unit sizing, selection, service contracts)
- Provide client leadership as "technical energy efficiency partner"
- Establish PECI as HVAC industry leader through industry forums, conference presentations and papers.
- Lead development of analytical and diagnostic tools and methodologies for identifying and verifying energy saving opportunities
- Integrate inputs from field energy analysts, industry standards, and strategic mandates to refine and expand technical training programs.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate possesses the combination of strong knowledge of mechanical systems coupled with demonstrated skills in financial analysis, business strategy and product/program development.
- A minimum of 7 years experience in project and/or program management
- Engineering or technical degree with experience in commercial HVAC
- Ability to synthesize new diagnostic, analytical, and technology solutions to most effectively meet key program drivers
- Demonstrated aptitude for client-facing facilitation
- Experience in budget and resource management for multiple projects
- Ability to think and communicate creatively and strategically
- Ability to align business strategy and technical opportunities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and issue resolution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Results oriented; able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
