Position Overview:

The Technical Services team is focused on providing engineering support and solutions to our utility and business clients. As a member of this team, you are critical to our success. Our team has an immediate need for an Energy Manager based out of our Portland, Ore., headquarters.

In this newly created role, you will experience all the benefits of working for a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company while having a significant impact in energy efficiency, climate and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

As an Energy Manager, you will be responsible for delivering energy efficiency, demand response and energy management solutions to our commercial and industrial end users for both our utility and private sector clients.  You will work either independently or as part of the engineering team on energy efficiency and carbon impact improvement projects (primarily existing facilities, but you may provide input on new construction).

You will perform on-site energy audits, developing energy analyses including recommendations for operational efficiencies and identifying energy savings opportunities. Working with our program managers and others in the organization, you will support business development efforts with both utility and private sector prospects. You will use your business knowledge and technical expertise to showcase our commitment to providing innovative and energy efficient solutions to Ecos customers. You will also be expected to support business development efforts for our business units including proposal development, marketing of our consulting services and attendance at industry events representing Ecos.

In this position, you will utilize your experience in HVAC, pumping systems, controls, chillers, boilers, refrigeration, and building envelope analysis and other commercial and industrial equipment and systems to provide support to Ecos customers, program managers, and field auditors. You will create and develop relationships with both technical and business operations managers and other key players. You will spend a significant amount of time at our customers' sites to fully understand their business and processes. In doing so you will become a trusted energy management advisor supporting energy efficiency needs and their quest for energy-efficient business solutions.

Your experience working in a collaborative environment will be valuable in building and strengthening your relationships with our clients, auditors and in-house team. In addition, your participation and understanding of the audit process, along with your ability to collect and interpret data, will further enhance the reputation Ecos has for delivering innovative energy management solutions to our clients.  Your background in energy efficiency audits and field support, paired with a proven commitment to understanding and servicing customers to match the goals of the organization, will be pivotal to the success of the team.

Qualifications:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, mechanical or electrical engineering plus 7 years of hands-on experience performing energy and/or sustainability audits of commercial or industrial buildings and facilities, with exposure to system installation, troubleshooting, commissioning, and/or controls.  Professional Engineer (PE) designation, Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification, and/or LEED AP certification are preferred but not required.

In addition, you possess experience managing the delivery of project work plans, schedules and budgets to goals and targets. You should have knowledge of the design and operation of mechanical and electrical systems for commercial, institutional and industrial facilities as they relate to energy conservation.

As our ideal candidate, you possess extensive working knowledge of facility energy management and building automation and controls systems for HVAC, safety systems, lighting/lighting controls and building envelopes. Your strengths include your ability to conduct and analyze integrated audits and navigate through building energy codes and standards as well as commissioning standards. You should also have a working knowledge of ANSI and ISO Energy Management Standards.

You have understanding of utility demand side management efficiency programs and their implementation.  The ability to create technical reports that meet client needs is required, along with communication skills that enable you to communicate to a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders.  As a key team member, you understand the concepts of continuous quality improvement such as Lean Manufacturing, ISO, Six Sigma and/or Total Quality Management, and can translate this into your work. Your passion for energy efficiency and a desire to grow in this position are essential, along with organization, time management, initiative and drive.

In addition to your customer and program activities, our Technical Leads are expected to share their experience and technical knowledge with junior technical staff and non-technical employees through formal and informal mentoring and internal training (developing and delivering written and presentation training material).

If you are interested in working for a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company while having a significant impact in the world of energy efficiency, climate and sustainability, we want to hear from you!

Compensation: Our salaries are competitive and commensurate with experience. We are a performance-based culture and have a goal-based incentive program and generous employee benefits. Our comprehensive benefit package includes medical, dental, vision insurance, life, AD&D and short- and long-term disability insurance. We also offer flexible spending accounts and 401(k) with a generous employer match.
