Position Overview:
Represent programs to existing and potential customers, make the business case for identified retrofits and other energy saving measures, working with program managers to facilitate energy savings, identify other needs and work with managers to develop programs to meet those needs.
Account Managers motivate, advise, and enable grocers and refrigeration contractors to implement significant energy savings projects with existing and new accounts. Account Managers are accountable to promoting existing appropriate programs to achieve significant energy efficiency goals.
This role is part of a team that helped grocers reduce energy usage by over 125M kWh in 2008; the equivalent of taking 55,000 commuters off the road every year. The Account Manager may work from a home office in Los Angeles and will travel to consult with National Accounts on energy efficiency opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Grow kWh acquisition through existing programs
- Act as technical representative to the customer, during the initial contact
- Work with program managers and field representatives to ensure delivery
- Grow and develop large-chain grocery accounts
- Understand and represent to customers technical energy efficiency measures for each of the programs.
- Manage assigned accounts
- Call prospective customers and establish business cycles and needs and ensures creation and ongoing development of relationship
- Establish buying influences, budgets, and purchasing criteria for assigned accounts
- Increase sales in respective accounts
- Prepare sales information for customers
- Must be responsive to the customers needs and follow through on all aspects of request, both written and verbal
- Make presentations to various groups within the customer's organization when needed
- Required to attend trade shows along with different conferences both educational and customer oriented
- Travel is a requirement (up to 25%)
Qualifications:
- 8-plus years of experience in account management, preferably in a large-chain grocery, contractor and/or retail environment
- Passion for learning and a history of excellence and over achieving; possessing entrepreneurial spirit
- Knows or can quickly learn refrigeration technologies pertaining to supermarkets, and to speak knowledgeably about new technologies and their process impacts to customers
- Business acumen; proven familiarity with core business metrics (ROI, margins, etc.)
- Experience in winning new accounts and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service
- A track record for strong contributions in a fast paced, rapidly growing organization
- Adept at presenting and communicating with colleagues at all levels
- Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated commitment to energy efficiency.
