Financial Controller

Position Overview: 

The employer is seeking a Financial Controller who will be responsible for the oversight of all financial accounting activities and will assist with financial reporting, budgeting and planning. The position will be located in Ontario, NY and the successful candidate will cooperate with and be the trusted advisor to management, as well as individuals with operating responsibility in the company. The Financial Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Controllership Duties:

Collect, analyze and interpret financial data Weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, including direct responsibility for preparation of financial statements and reports for Board of Directors Government and compliance registration, reporting, filing and reconciliations (as required). Develop, implement and continually update reporting processes. Analyze and provide explanations regarding comparative annual results for income statement and balance sheet.

Assist in providing presentations for staff, management and potential investors Implement and monitor the ongoing effective operation of internal controls and anti-fraud processes. Monitor and report the expenses associated with the development of new services. Prepare special reports as necessary to support ongoing business operations, relationships and expansion. Develop models to track and explain financial trends. Develop multi-office accounting procedures

Treasury Duties:

Manage and oversee accounting, accounting policy and financial procedures for business operations and expansion. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes including invoicing and collections Implement budgeting, reporting and invoicing tools/procedures with Project Managers. Prepare reports illustrating project margins and recommended corrective actions as needed. Determine and track rates for services and corporate billable hour goals. Manage monthly close process. Quarterly sales tax filings and determination of taxable services. Develop relationships and opportunities to secure corporate financing. Asset management. Manage and coordinate year end audits.

Strategy and Forecasting:

Assist in the creation of strategic plans, budgets, models and forecasts. Preparation of data/reports necessary for forecasting and planning activities. Recommend changes to improve systems and financial performance.

Qualifications: 

Candidates are Required to Possess:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent leadership skills and ability to work effectively across commercial and support organizations at all levels. 3+ years direct experience in a controller or related role. Demonstrated ability to balance understanding of and engagement in finance and accounting routine with solid commercial sense to support deal evaluation.

Trustworthiness in working with confidential and sensitive information. Willingness to be "hands on" - Prepared to make journal entries, interact with all employee levels and cover for staff as necessary. Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills interfacing with investors, employees, managers and corporate officers. The ability to effectively multi-task Attention to detail

Preference may be given to candidates with:

Master's degree in Finance/Economics/Accounting Experience in the energy sector. Experience in small business environment Project finance experience/knowledge. A background in Analytical Finance.

Compensation: Payment will be commensurate with level of experience and knowledge. Health benefits are included.
