CEDA's (Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County, Inc.) Weatherization department is the nation's largest Home Energy Conservation Program in the nation.

Position Overview: 

We are looking for Assessors to perform Weatherization diagnostic procedures to evaluate and recommend energy saving measures in client homes, input data to a proprietary software system for evaluation, and provide WX information to clients.  Final Inspectors evaluate and rate the work performed for WX clients by WX-approved contractors, work with contractors to correct deficiencies and counsels clients on the work performed.

Responsibilities: 

Include, but are not limited to, conducting audits of targeting structures to determine appropriate measures to be performed; generating work orders via centralized database; final-inspecting homes upon completion to insure compliance with program standards and specifications; insuring that material and labor costs are reported and accounted for; providing documentation for incomplete/marginal work, initiating call-back procedures when appropriate; and performing duties of either an Assessor or Final Inspector when assigned by the Program Manager.

Qualifications: 

High school graduate or equivalent (GED).  General background in basic carpentry skills.  On-the-job experience preferred.  Must be self-disciplined, showing initiative and displaying good judgment.  Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry a minimum of 50lbs. and work from ladder.  Must be certified by the State of Illinois or become certified after participating in training given by the State of Illinois and CEDA within 1 year of employment.

Travel:  Within the geographical Cook County area and out of county to attend sessions and related conferences.

Compensation:  $25 - $30k (with a $5,000 increase upon successful completion of the State of Illinois certification program).
