Founded in 1996, SouthWings is a conservation and public benefit aviation organization that provides skilled pilots and aerial education to protect and restore the globally significant ecosystems of the Southeast.
Position Overview:
SouthWings seeks an executive director who has the confidence, knowledge, and experience to lead this solid, well-positioned, and respected regional organization.
The new leader must have proven, significant, and successful fundraising experience and the ability to manage day-to-day operations and to work effectively with the board to guide the organization. The executive director also will possess the talent to communicate effectively and build relationships with multiple constituencies, including the board, staff, volunteers, donors, foundation officers and community leaders.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of leadership and management experience with an understanding of the nonprofit sector and, in particular, the needs of a small organization;
- Exceptional fundraiser with proven experience in major gifts, corporate and foundation funding and annual giving campaigns;
- Demonstrated experience in fiscal management and budget preparation;
- Proven team builder;
- Strong consensus building and negotiation skills;
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse populations and multiple constituencies;
- Self-directed, grounded and collaborative leader who can facilitate change;
- Creative problem solver, flexible and capable of adapting to changing priorities;
- Strategic thinker, capable of moving an organization to new levels;
- Familiarity with new technological trends and applications;
- Bachelor's Degree, Masters preferred

Compensation: $55 - 60K. SouthWings currently pays 100% of the health insurance premium and currently contributes 5% of salary to a SEP IRA.
