Position Overview:
The role of the process engineer is to evaluate existing processes and to configure manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process.
The main focus of the process engineer's work is on maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers. The process engineer is a part of a team driven to identify, develop and deliver innovative solutions, and to constantly improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Research & Development (R&D) Responsibilities:
- Preparation of samples for study.
- Performing required testing (strength, shrinkage...)
- Collect, record and transcribe data
- Report results to R&D Department
- Maintain test equipment, supplies and lab cleanliness.
- Perform series of quality control testing on raw materials (sieve analysis, color measurements...)
- Design of Experiments
Safety Compliance:
- Provide input to any investigation for area of responsibility.
- Provide input as appropriate regarding safety.
- Ensure working conditions are Normal and enforce safety requirements as outlined in safety procedures.
Implement Continuous Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing systems that optimize all phases of the production process; be actively involved in the development and implementation of the long-term improvement programs.
- Utilize 6sigma and lean tools to reduce process variation
- Provide technical inputs for incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action.
Qualifications:
- Successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering field (chemical background is a plus)
- Must possess strong computer skills (MS Office) with an ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
- Successful candidate will have 3-5 years of manufacturing experience, be energetic, creative, dedicated and meticulous to details;
- Candidate will have Project Management experience
- Ability to multi-task, communicate effectively w/all levels and successfully meet deadlines
- Candidate needs to be organized, disciplined and a self-starter
- Flexible team player with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, functioning in a fast-paced environment under significant time pressures
- Ability to present recommendations to management using applicable computer software including Word, Excel. PowerPoint.
- Previous lab experience if preferred
