Description
The Facilities Electrical Engineer has the responsibility to support safe, reliable, and economic operations of the site electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains a good working knowledge of the site electrical systems and maintains all electrical documentation and drawings.
- Provides direction and support to all electricians, electrical mechanical technicians, and engineers in designing and troubleshooting activities.
- Reviews and approves all work orders that impact the facilities electrical services.
- Ensures that all facility electrical design changes are captured by the Management of Change control process.
- Is responsible to ensure that BP and site HSSE and engineering standards are uniformly applied to all activities. Creates and Updates the sites electrical safety policy, procedure, and standards. Serves as the sites electrical systems technical authority.
- Assists with the development of electrical skills for engineers and technicians through practical training and coaching. Coordinates and conducts 70E training as needed.
- Completes for the Frederick site the roll-out of the global BP Integrity Management Standard
- Will be responsible for successful planning, implementation, and sustainability of facility capital projects as assigned.
- Will be responsible for the design, installation, programming and trouble shooting of PLC devices, controls, and data acquisition systems
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with the BP's Quality System.
Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering required with a minimum of 10 years of experience with electrical power distribution and facilities electrical systems. PE certification and Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.
The successful candidate should have:
- Proficient in the development of one-line and schematic diagrams .
- Ability to troubleshooting and repair electrical systems
- Expert knowledge of the National Electrical Code and related industry standards such as NFPA 70E .
- Ability to work in team environment and demonstrate leadership skills
- Proven ability to use influence and strong negotiation techniques
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Proficient with AutoCad
- Solid project management skills
- Influencing skills to implement a project by managing operational staff already embedded within the business to complete tasks additional to their existing roles
- Must have experience and knowledge with PLC, Controls, and Data Acquisition Systems
