The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 15,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking an enthusiastic experienced professional to serve as the principal in-house lead for the commercial real estate market.

Position Overview: 

The Manager of Commercial Real Estate will provide comprehensive management of resources and industry guidance pertaining generally to the commercial real estate market, as well as to delivering specific work in the areas of retail, hospitality, corporate, and investment real estate.

This position will require comprehensive coordination of sector activities including managing project timelines, contracts, internal stakeholders, and delivering high quality results to the market on a wide variety of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Program Management
    • Serve as team leader for staff focused on resource development in the commercial real estate sector
    • Serve as internal commercial real estate expert for various teams and stakeholders
    • Support development and implementation of annual program budget and business plan in collaboration with Director and LEED department staff.
    • Prepare program and financial progress reports as needed.
    • Handle administrative tasks as needed.
  • Project Management
    • Manage overall project schedules for development of numerous projects
    • Convene stakeholder groups to help gather feedback on industry needs and potential opportunities
    • Manage consultants, including topical experts and graphic/layout contractors, to support various projects and deliverables
  • Technical Development
    • Serve as a liaison to the LEED technical development team to provide information and assist with resolving technical issues related to space types including retail, warehouse, and lodging.

Related Organizational Goals and Objectives:

  • Encourage and accelerate global adoption of green building and operations practices through LEED standards, tools and performance criteria.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive set of program offerings including technical tools and services supporting LEED products to meet the diverse needs of the building industry.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience related to design, construction and/or operations of buildings in the commercial real estate sector
  • Bachelors degree, Masters preferred, in a related building industry, environmental or business discipline
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks in fast paced work environment
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to handle diverse teams and cross-departmental coordination
  • Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills
  • Commitment to USGBC Mission
  • Experience managing staff
  • Commitment to USGBC Mission and passion for sustainable business
