The U.S. Green Building Council is a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 14,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability.

Position Overview:

The U.S. Green Building Council is currently seeking a strategy-minded and dynamic manager to utilize strong leadership skills to help to develop and to implement USGBC's overall marketing plan, and analyze markets and audience segments and assess effectiveness of marketing and communications campaigns.

The Marketing Manager will work with senior teams to:

  • develop marketing plans to reach various audiences and customer segments;
  • assure effective linkage between the marketing and communications function;
  • review prepared materials for style, accuracy and effectiveness;
  • work in collaboration with marketing project managers;
  • manage operational budget and meet revenue performance goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee marketing and communications projects and strategically align projects with departmental and organization goals.
  • Manage coordination among all communications functions along with marketing managers and others within the organization - including in the areas of Web sites, conferences, speaking events, press outreach, marketing collateral, etc.
  • Oversee and assist with managing communications partnerships and sponsorships
    • Work with Communications Director on agreements and manage relationships on an on-going basis.
  • Handle heavy involvement in budgeting process:
    • Oversee spending; maintain, track and verify budget - including coordinate with project calendar and timeline.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (business, marketing, communications, etc.) required
  • Minimum of five years of experience in marketing and/or communications.
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Proven expertise in project management
  • Ability to analyze markets and develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans to retain and grow current business and attract new customers.
  • Understanding of channels, including direct to consumer, interactive, paid and earned media.
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate persuasively and tactfully
  • Excellent abilities in strategy development and implementation
  • Knowledge of and experience with markets USGBC works in
  • Strong knowledge in planning and budget management experience preferred.
