Blue Oak Energy, Inc. is a professional solar electric design and engineering firm based in Davis, California.

We are dedicated to providing high quality solar electric (PV) system project design, planning and permitting services. Our goal is to reduce the cost and increase the use of solar electric systems through smart planning, project management, and intelligent product design.

Position Overview: 

We seek an associate engineer to focus on solar electric design work. In this position, you will coordinate directly with clients and create construction plan sets for rooftop and ground mounted PV systems. You will be part of a dynamic staff of approximately 10 people.

This position provides comprehensive training in solar electric design principles and the opportunity to work on the forefront of a vital, growing industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver AutoCAD-based designs and drawings for a variety of solar electric projects.
  • Contribute to the multidisciplinary design of solar module mounting systems, DC and AC
    electrical distribution systems, and all associated details required to direct construction contractors.
  • Create AutoCAD templates and exhibit strong, consistent practices with drawing file
    management.
  • Represent Blue Oak Energy as an experienced and knowledgeable business.
  • Contribute to an amicable working environment with other associates and employees

Qualifications:

  1. Self-motivated and committed to excellence
  2. Bachelors degree in an engineering field
  3. Proven AutoCAD skills
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with clients of all disciplines
  5. Excellent PC computer skills and familiarity with MS Office and Windows
  6. Knowledge of, or desire to learn, solar electric system design

In addition, preferred candidates will have:

  • Practical, hands-on experience in a construction related field
  • Civil or structural engineering background
  • Familiarity with solar electric system installation
