The U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, DC-based national nonprofit organization of over 11,000 corporate and organizational members from every sector of the building industry united to transform the building marketplace to sustainability, is currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with the experience to effectively provide support to the various projects within the research department.
The Research Coordinator will assist and manage a growing variety of projects and ongoing activities for the programs that contribute to USGBC's goal to be both a resource for existing knowledge about green building research and resources as well as a driver of relevant research. This goal serves USGBC's customers, constituents, committees and staff. Job duties will relate to committee support, compilation and summary of relevant research reports and information sources, website content, program and contract administration, and communications.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Research Committee support: conference call coordination, agenda preparation, meeting minutes, communications with the committee's constituency of USGBC members (committee "correspondents"), meeting logistics, and general coordination and administration.
- Tasks contributing to the comprehensive revamping of content and functionality for the Research portion of USGBC's website, enabling users to better fulfill their individual needs for information and resources. Identify, compile, and organize website content. Provide ongoing content updates and maintenance.
- Respond to staff and customer inquiries for data, research reports and other information resources.
- Administrative tasks supporting USGBC's Green Building Research Grant Fund (grants awarded to researchers).
- Manage the USGBC staff library.

- Goal: To be both a resource for existing knowledge about green building research as well as a driver of relevant research.
- Objective: Increase USGBC's capacity to facilitate, analyze and disseminate research.
- Objective: Position USGBC as a primary driver of emerging LEED-related and green building research agendas.
- Objective: Increase collaboration and build on existing research as it relates to green building and LEED.

Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelors degree in relevant field
- Minimum 2 years experience
- Knowledge of green building resources (sources of tools and information)
- Research experience is preferred
- Project management experience is preferred
- Excellent communication skills (especially written), organizational abilities, attention to detail
- Proficient software skills (MS Office - especially Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Commitment to USGBC's mission
