Chief Financial Officer

Position Overview:

Currently FINCA International is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for its headquarters in Washington, DC.

The CFO will provide the FINCA International Executive Director with the financial information required to make sound management decisions regarding the short, medium and long term direction of the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and enforce controls and policies which safeguard the assets of the FINCA network;
• Ensure the soundness of the affiliate internal control systems, particularly where organization and donor funds are involved;
• Lead in the development of FINCA into a global financial intermediary that serves the world's lowest-income entrepreneurs;
• Organize the development of creative strategies for guiding the organization and its affiliates into the area of Program Related Investments, Equity Participation, and commercial borrowing, as a means of raising the working capital need to meet the ever-expanding demand for credit;
• Supervise the personnel attached to the Finance Department;
• Provide technical assistance to the subsidiaries in the areas of accounting, management information systems, and reporting.

Requirements:

• MBA with specialty in finance/accounting or related field, CPA required;
• 10 year minimum increasingly responsible experience as CFO of a commercial financial services organization managing a staff of 10 or more;
• 5 year minimum CFO experience working in an international organization with international finance emphasis (banking, investment, etc.);
• 5 year minimum international experience required;
• Experience working in multi currency/accounting standards/regulatory environments;
• Experience in a matrixed environment preferred;
• Capital markets experience required;
• Retail banking and/or microfinance experience preferred but not required;
• Excellent financial analysis-long/med/short term financial planning / budgeting;
• Excellent financial risk management;
• General ledger management, Deltek preferred;
• Familiarity with implementing and working with complex integrated management information and accounting systems (including database management);
• Demonstrated leadership and staff management abilities;
• Knowledge of government/USAID contract/grants management is a plus;
• Strong commitment to FINCA's social mission;
• Ability and willingness to travel to developing countries, the position requires 50% of travel;
• Fluency in English, Fluency in Spanish and/or Russian desirable.
