EnerNOC has an immediate opening for an Energy Engineer in Northern California. The Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of conducting energy audits at commercial and industrial facilities, including meeting with clients to gather information about energy consuming systems (HVAC, lighting, process loads, etc.) and energy management systems, developing demand side management strategies, analyzing interval data, estimating demand response capacity, and writing demand response audit reports.

The Engineer will coordinate with clients and utility contacts as well as EnerNOC staff to complete audits. The Engineer will also work with the California Business Development Manager to sell demand response products and services to clients. This position requires a broad knowledge of energy consuming systems within facilities (HVAC, lighting, process loads, etc.), energy management systems, and the field of distributed energy. 

We are seeking someone who is willing to see audit reports through to completion while excelling at customer relations. Most weeks will involve two to three days of local travel to customer sites with some travel to other regions of California. There may be travel to other markets as opportunities arise and as the engineer desires. Our technology and our staff is growing and expanding quickly, and an entrepreneurial, self-starting attitude is essential for success in this position. This position reports to the Director of Project Development and Client Services. 

Key Responsibilities: 

* Perform site surveys to assess demand response capability, including client interviews and facility walk-throughs. Site surveys may include gathering nameplate data, conducting fixture counts, reading blue prints, gathering mechanical schedules, and taking amp probe readings as appropriate 
* Develop demand response measures that are appropriate to the operating requirements, energy consuming systems, and energy management systems of the facility 
* Identify infrastructure upgrades that will support demand response 
* Analyze 15-minute interval data to establish baseline energy consumption and demand response capacity 
* Write demand response reports " Communicate results to clients and utility contacts 
* Assist sales staff in selling demand response products and services to clients 

Qualifications/Skills/Education: 

The ideal candidate will have a background in facilities management, energy management systems, energy consulting, mechanical or electrical contract management services, or utility services.

* Must have B.S./B.E. degree mechanical or electrical engineering 
* Minimum 10 years technical and/or service-oriented experience in facilities management, energy management systems, energy consulting, mechanical or electrical contract management services, or utility services
* Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, and a general computing background
* Demonstrated capability in technical/business writing
* Ability to foster trusted relationships internally and with customers as a team player * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and follow through to completion quickly 
* Ability to organize and remain productive in an ambiguous environment
* Attention to detail and ability to sweat the small stuff combined with the judgment to determine when a reasonable estimate will suffice 
* Ability to self-start and work independently
