Carbonfund.org is a fast-growing non-profit organization leading the fight against climate change by providing innovative solutions any individual or business can take to transform our economy to a clean energy future. Carbonfund.org has thousands of individual supporters and over 200 businesses leading the way on climate change, including Dell, Lancome, Orbitz and Yakima.
A junior-level position, the Climate Change Specialist (CCS) position will assist the development and implementation of our educational, carbon reduction and offset programs for individuals and small businesses. The CCS will assist primarily in strengthening our communications program, improving educational outreach, fulfillment systems, and media presence; including graphic support and image management. The CCS will also be responsible for the publication of press releases, newsletters, blog posts, and web content.
The position reports to the Executive Director, and requires a team-approach to solving problems and accomplishing tasks. The CCS will also assist the Executive Director with a variety of tasks related to program administration, and other tasks as necessary. This position will provide an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to gain valuable experience in the emerging climate change sector. The position is also an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with involvement in all aspects of a non-profit organization.
Requirements:
* Bachelors degree, preferably in Communications, or an Environmental Sciences related degree; Masters a plus
* 1-5 years experience
* Excellent writing skills
* Excellent organizational skills
* Good public speaking skills
* MS Office, Web-based software, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Basic html knowledge required
* Java knowledge a plus
* Knowledge of climate change
* Must be a team player to react to the needs of an ever-changing organization
* A passion for the environment and solving our climate change crisis
