2007 Spring/Summer Internship Announcement

Northwest Natural Resource Group is seeking a spring or summer intern to assist with the development of our Watershed Innovation program to allow Pacific Northwest small forest landowners to participate in water quality trading programs. * Researching existing water quality trading programs to develop a template for programs to be implemented in the Northwest that allow FSC certified small forest landowners to access water quality credit markets
* Researching protocols to monetize and market water quality improvements on sustainable managed working forest land
* Conducting market analysis on the potential supply and potential buyers for a water quality market
* Assisting with organizational development and fundraising in a small but expanding organization

The ideal applicant will have:

* Background (preferably graduate level) in environmental science or environmental/ecological economics and knowledge of the interplay between forestry and water quality
* Knowledge of and interest in the use of market forces for environmental conservation goals i.e.: ecosystem services markets
* Interest in sustainable forestry and understanding of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification

This paid opportunity will be part time with flexible hours and location (within WA as some time will be required at the main office in Port Townsend).
