Description
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Environmental Planning & Assessment, is seeking an experienced environmental planner to supervise junior and senior level project managers performing environmental impact and planning studies.
Must demonstrate strong analytical ability and exercise sound judgment and operate with independent initiative. Will be responsible for the research activities in the environmental planning and analysis field. Will develop the appropriate scope of activity and direct research in and among a diverse field of inquiries designed to add to existing knowledge in the environmental sciences as related to the mission and activities of the agency and the City of New York.
Activities will be conducted to develop the effective coordination between the research efforts of the agency and other research projects within the environmental impact and planning fields. Management experience as well as experience in the fields of traffic, air quality, noise, hazardous materials and natural resources is necessary. Writes technical documents and manages consultant contracts. Experience in the City Environmental Quality Review process and/or the State Environmental Quality Review Act procedures are preferred.
Qualifications: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of full-time experience in city planning; Education and/or experience which is equivalent to above. However, a baccalaureate degree is required of all candidates.
Salary Range: $52,000 - $76,000
