Description
Work with a fantastic team on one of the most cutting edge initiatives in the public/non-profit sector, and take on a challenging management role in an effort that is committed to making a difference in the world.
Project Description:
Global public opinion has been called the world's "Second Superpower", but a yawning gap persists between the views and values of the world's peoples and the policies that govern them. Online organizing in the United States has demonstrated the internet's capacity to unite large numbers of citizens around effective actions and influence both politics and culture. Yet while internet usage climbs steeply around the world, there are few groups like MoveOn.org in other countries, and no trans-national equivalent.
Res Publica, in partnership with MoveOn.org, is launching an online activist community to fill this gap. The community will address pressing global issues of peace, justice, human rights and the environment with effective and edgy trans-national actions.
The organization will begin with 20 full time staff located in 6 countries and a much larger number of volunteers, and will follow an ambitious growth path. It will launch with 700,000 members spread across 148 countries. An Advisory Board for the project comprises politicians, diplomats, activists and celebrities from around the world.
Job Description:
The Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for planning and overseeing the operational set up and ongoing management of the organization, including: designing the organizational structure and reporting lines; ensuring all necessary legal and financial structures are in place; administering the budget; setting up the office and IT infrastructure; ensuring effective team communication; managing campaign operations and building operations teams for campaigns, and managing the day-to-day operations of the organization. The COO will report directly to the CEO.
