Director, Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure

The National Arbor Day Foundation is seeking a unique and imaginative individual to join our management team as Director of Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure located in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Truly, the only job like it in the world. 

The Director will lead the operation and marketing of the existing Tree Adventure visitor attraction and the development of new venues. This individual must have a passion for developing and managing a fun and meaningful, nature-based visitor attraction for Arbor Day Farm guests. He or she must exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit for growing a tree-themed visitor-attraction business and possess a full spectrum of marketing and business-management acumen.

Responsibilities: 

* Manage, market, and grow a highly interactive, fun, tree-themed visitor attraction combining meaningful connections with nature and appropriate use of technology in a variety of indoor and outdoor venues.
* Provide a fun and compelling visitor experience that will deepen guests' appreciation of trees and nature.
* Create special events and packages which result in repeat family visitations.
* Manage all aspects of the Arbor Day Farm property environment and guest experience to provide a consistently high-quality, inspiring experience.
* Lead the development and expansion of future nature-based attraction sites for Arbor Day Farm.
* Oversee the supervision of Arbor Day Farm retail, operations, and grounds team members, including selection, training, work allocation, and problem-resolution; evaluating performance and making recommendations for personnel actions; motivating employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
* Through surveys and other means, continually monitor and improve the effectiveness of Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure marketing and the quality of the guest experience.  

Qualifications: 

* An entrepreneurial zeal for growing a business; a love of nature and connecting people with nature; and a passion for providing exceptional service.
* Ability to think strategically, organize details, take ownership and accountability, and deliver results.
* Ability to conduct long-range planning and develop multiple guest venues that attract regional/national markets.
* Strong appreciation of the power of "stories" to engage guests.
* Strong promotion and marketing skills.
* 5+ years' visitor attraction and/or retail management, or related business experience.
