The primary focus of this position is to provide technical and project management support in the development and installation of photovoltaic power generation projects.
Major responsibilities include:
* Determining applicable codes & standards
* Verifying jurisdictional authorities and local ordinances & requirements
* Identifying additional regulatory requirements as needed
* Coordinating with local utilities to identify interconnect requirements
* Developing single-line diagrams and electrical equipment layout drawings
* Developing preliminary specifications to support equipment pricing, estimate equipment, installation and engineering labor costs
Requires some local travel, mostly within New Jersey. This position requires on-site investigation of existing facilities for the purpose of installing electrical generating equipment. Such investigation often requires accessing areas in buildings not intended for regular personnel passage, including rooftops and electrical equipment facilities.
Position is part-time temporary, approximately 16 to 20 hours per week.
Requirements:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field, with construction engineering, architectural with power generation emphasis or equivalent experience
* Minimum 3 years experience in the design and installation of photovoltaic roofing systems for commercial and industrial customers
* Experience using NFPA 70 (NEC) and estimating electrical construction/installation work.
* Installation or operating experience with power generating equipment
* Knowledge of local code and permitting requirements
* Demonstrated strength interacting with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Valid driver's license
* Must be able to perform physical requirements of position, including climbing ladders and working on rooftops.
