Executive Director

The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana is a charitable education and advocacy organization that has established a reputation as the leading champion for the restoration and stewardship of coastal Louisiana with the aim of achieving a coast that is ecologically, culturally and economically vibrant and sustainable. The Coalition, which is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, currently has a staff of 5 and an annual budget of $500,000.

Job Description:

The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the Coalition. The executive director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for working with the Board to develop annual work plans, programs and budgets to advance the mission of the Coalition.

The executive director is responsible for the execution of those work plans and programs and for directing and overseeing the staff, contractors, and volunteers employed to implement them.

Qualifications:

• Relevant experience in management, fundraising, and environmental policy development.
• Familiarity with Louisiana coastal issues.
• Experience with events, foundation and corporate grants, membership, coalition building and working with diverse constituencies.
• Excellent social and interpersonal skills, speaking and writing ability, and ability to pay attention to detail.
• A demonstrated commitment to integrity and honesty.

• Development of strategic plans and annual work plans.
• Implementation of Coalition programs.
• Selection and oversight of Coalition Staff.
• Grant writing (to be done in conjunction with the Director of Development and other staff).

Salary and Benefits:

Up to $75,000 depending on qualifications. Medical and Retirement.
