The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation's Division of Soil and Water is seeking Regional Manager for its' soil and water conservation programs in Northern Virginia. DCR is Virginia's lead Nonpoint source pollution control agency and conducts various efforts to prevent water quality problems from runoff, including cooperative watershed initiatives, Stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, agricultural and urban best management practices and nutrient management.
Job Overview:
The Regional Manager oversees local implementation of Nonpoint source programs and is the lead representative and spokesperson to area governments, soil and water conservation districts and community organizations.
Qualifications:
Position requires dynamic leadership, managerial and outreach skills, as well as the ability to form productive partnerships with members of diverse stakeholder groups and governmental units.
Bachelor's degree (Masters' preferred) in natural resource management, water quality, NPS pollutions and BMP Implementation or related environmental filed, or training and experience to achieve the needed knowledge, skills and abilities in those fields.
Experience in project development and management applying environmental policies and regulations are preferred. Watershed management and river basin planning experience, as well as knowledge of local governing processes is preferred.
Also preferred are five or more years of experience in the field, including supervisory and administrative skills. Master's degree may substitute for two years of experience.
Salary Range: $37,869 - $77,720
