The Education Office of the Ecological Society of America (ESA), North America's leading professional society of ecologists, is seeking an Education Coordinator to work from its Silver Spring, MD office.
The Education Coordinator will manage ESA's online education materials including the Ecology Education Network (ecoed.net) and assist with the peer-review of Teaching Issues and Experiments in Ecology (TIEE).
This will include the collection, cataloguing and validating of pedagogically and scientifically sound ecology education material into the digital library; establishing and implementing editorial procedures to ensure publications are completed in a timely manner; maintaining liaison between author and editors and keeping authors up-to-date on schedule, revisions, and related matters.
Other responsibilities include developing and disseminating education and outreach materials, responding to science, career, and education related inquiries from the public and assisting with special projects, including briefings and career fairs.
Qualifications:Bachelor degree with a focus in ecology, biology, or education (Masters preferred). Knowledge of science education, digital libraries, peer review systems. This position requires a high degree of motivation, initiative, maturity, and responsibility. Experience in web design and the ability to conceptually organize information, text and graphics a plus.
