Sr. Drafter and Document Control Specialist

First Solar, a high-energy, rapidly growing developer and manufacturer of thin film Photovoltaic (PV) technology in solar modules is seeking a driven, results oriented Sr. Drafter & Document Control Specialist who will be a key member of the First Solar team responsible for designing, implementing, and cost reducing solar power plant projects. Position responsibilities are focused on the development and documentation of Project Design Plans and system implementation documentation.

Summary of Primary Duties: 

Sr. Drafter will aid design team in the design and development of Balance of System (BoS) equipment and solutions and complete system implementation plans to achieve cost targets of the Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for the transformation of initial rough system designs into working documents using computer aided design (CAD) tools, review engineering drawing and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards, maintenance and control of design document updates and revisions, and redesign or design modification of existing systems. Sr. Drafter will be responsible for management and oversight of the CAD tools used by the design team, and will be required to interface with other Company groups to coordinate working practices. 

Sr. Drafter may also research, collect, and prepare reports containing information on the ability and capacity of Company's products and competing equipment; will contribute to the design of novel BoS products, make improvements to existing products, evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability, and participate in the development of field implementation labor reduction efforts. Sr. Drafter will work closely with other members of the design team to ensure that project design, development, and implementation are completed on schedule and within cost targets. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned. 

* Manage and standardize ACAD system, project drawings and libraries, document formats, and provide full ACAD support to design team.
* Act as the administrator for the interface and coordination with IT and Manufacturing Engineering.
* Develop system design documentation, maintain revisions, and incorporation of "red-lines" into library of system design documents, e.g. system plans and details, written specifications (CSI format), and drawings (ACAD).
* Assist in the development of solar power plant system designs
* Assist in the evaluation of component supplier and service provider alternatives
* Perform product testing and performance reports, and document solar system solutions
* Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform variety of complex tasks and the functions of the job while working under limited or general supervision.
*Requires a certain degree of creativity and latitude, and will draw on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 

Position Qualifications and Experience: 

* BS degree in an engineering or related discipline
* Minimum of two years of experience drafting and designing project and system design and engineering details in an ACAD environment.
* Experience administrating ACAD systems and familiarity with documentation control is required.
* Experience with PV products and systems is highly desired.
* Have proficiency and knowledge of Auto CAD (ACAD)
* Have knowledge and familiarity of standard and commonly used materials, components, concepts, practices, and procedures in use within the solar industry and related fields (e.g. electrical industry and construction industry).
* Proficiency in MS Office products, AutoCAD, and company specific software programs including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software
