Description

The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, a National Estuary Program, is a regional environmental, nonprofit based in Wilmington, Delaware. We are seeking an individual to fill the full-time position of Communications Specialist.

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director for Development and Communications, the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary's Communications Specialist is responsible for the overall promotion of the organization including all outgoing written documents/materials, marketing committee, media relationships, special events. The Specialist will develop and implement a public relations strategy to enhance the organization's regional and national visibility.

KNOW-HOW REQUIRED

1. Knowledge of marketing (including public relations, media relations)
2. Excellent written/verbal communication skills
3. Strong organizational and coordination skills
4. Ability to build effective work teams
5. Strong attention to detail
6. Photography experience
7. Computer knowledge (word, excel, access)
8. 1-3 years experience working in a related job
9. A four-year degree from an accredited college

JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Assist in assuring that the objectives of the Partnership are implemented through marketing and communications activities that relate to the organization's mission.
2. Establish and build relationships with regional representatives from the print and electronic media and be able to respond to media inquires.
3. Write, edit and oversee production of quarterly newsletter, annual reports, and other printed pieces.
4. Prepare and distribute press releases.
5. Organize press conferences.
6. Coordinate media buys.
7. Assist in identifying and pursuing funding opportunities.
8. Manage Partnership's website on day-to-day basis.
9. Coordinate all marketing for special events and fundraisers.
10. Provide staff support to the Board of Directors' Marketing Committee.
11. Organize and build organization's inventory of photographs and take photographs at events and for publications.
