Description
OneWorld U.S. has an immediate opening for an editor/writer with good knowledge of international affairs and the NGO community; strong writing and analytical skills; and a commitment to sustainable development and human rights to produce its Global Daily Headlines web and email edition.
The job involves daily scanning websites of OneWorld's U.S. partners on the Internet--primarily nonprofit development, relief, environment, and human rights organizations--and identifying important and interesting stories to include on the OneWorld U.S. website, and send in e-mail form to subscribers to the Global Daily Headlines service.
Each day, nine stories (5 news, 2 analysis, and 2 feature) are produced. The editor is responsible for producing a brief summary and headline for each article selected. The Editor is also responsible for updating some parts of the OneWorld U.S. homepage.
This is a mid-level position; at least three years comparable experience required.
OneWorld U.S. is part of OneWorld.net ( http://www.oneworld.net ), a global network of over 1600 organizations working in human rights and sustainable development. The editor will participate in this network through monthly web-chats and other occasional tasks.
Additional Qualifications:
Production is carried out within OneWorld's own content management system, and also relies on other web applications. The successful candidate will have strong computer skills, experience in online publishing, and an ability to learn new systems.
