Help Fight Toxic Polluters! The Center for Environmental Health is a non-profit organization in north Oakland, dedicated to reducing the use of toxic chemicals. CEH gives its interns a high level of  esponsibility and recognizes that the rewards of working for a non-profit organization are the experience and challenge of being an active participant. 

Duties:
Some examples of intern tasks:

• Conducting research on corporate practices and possible health hazards. This might include searching the Web, tracking down articles, or contacting public interest groups and scientists.
• Following up on specific issues to define alternative, non-harmful corporate practices for us to advocate.
• Working with hospitals and others in the healthcare industry to switch to safer practices, such as buying less mercury and vinyl.
• Assisting in the research and advocacy for local public policies reducing the use of toxic chemicals.
• Attending community meetings, networking, assisting with correspondence, following up on contacts, and contacting our supporters.
• Assisting with fundraising and communications activities, such as writing press releases, letters to the editor, brochures, and educational documents
• Helping to manage all daily affairs at the CEH office, such as answering phones and sending mailings.
• You may be able to receive academic credit for your work at CEH.
• We are looking for interns willing to give at least 10 hours per week.
• There is a small stipend for this work, but no salary.
