Description
Background:
Heifer International, a progressive, non-profit, sustainable
development org seeks a committed, mission-minded professional to
develop our Immigrant Farmer Program, the capacity of immigrant
organizations/communities, & play a significant role in the development
of the PW Program (WA State area).
Duties:
Develop short & long-term plans for Heifers work in the area, in consultation w/the North America
Program Director.
These plans will include specific goals, objectives,
strategies, & priorities; interpret Heifer's use of livestock in
development & our project management system to potential project
partners in the geographic area. Evaluate & respond to
proposals/requests for assistance received from potential project
partners.
Qualifications:
BS degree in animal science, agriculture education, rural
sociology, or rel field, MS degree prefd; plus 7-10 yrs rel exp reqd.
Exp
managing a variety of livestock species, helpful.
Knowledge of & exp
w/development in other countries an asset.
Ideal candidates should have strong people & English &
Spanish communication skills reqd, be a self-starter, & have the
flexibility/skill to deal with a variety of challenges as they arise.
Starting salary $42K, plus benefits.
