Description

Duties:

The Coastal Training Coordinator (CTC) has the primary responsibility for
planning and establishing a Coastal Training Program (CTP) at GTMNERR in
compliance with the National Estuarine Research Reserve System. The CTC will
work with the academic community and with numerous public and private
partners to establish a CTP Advisory Group, complete a CTP market analysis,
training needs assessment, complete a CTP strategy and implementation plan,
and develop a marketing plan for CTP promotion, advertising and outreach. The
CTC will work closely with the GTMNERR Education Coordinator to integrate
the CTP within the overall GTMNERR Education Program. The CTC will
coordinate research to assess the level of understanding of Coastal
Decision-Maker (CDM) audiences, and develop education and information
programs and products for use with the CTP. Other CTC duties include assisting
with the development and delivery of workshops, technical information, training,
and resources to specific adult audiences who play a role in coastal
decision-making.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required in
science, education, or communications and one to two years professional
experience with workshop development. A Masters degree can be substituted
for the required experience. Desirable experience includes: public outreach,
public speaking, working with committees, information research, workshop
development, writing and/or producing educational materials. A Drivers license
is required. May be required to assist with programs or displays at special events
on evenings and weekends. Knowledge of: estuarine ecology; environmental
issues; Coastal Zone Management principles and practices; and the principles
and techniques of effective verbal and written communication. Skilled at: use of
Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel.

Compensation:

Salary is $14 to $17 per hour, depending on qualifications. This is an hourly OPS
position with no paid benefits.
