Earthroots is seeking a Forest Campaigner who will work on Earthroots forest conservation campaigns, including old-growth and boreal forest protection, as well as community-based forestry programs.

Forest Campaigner candidates should possess:
Previous advanced campaigning experience in an environmental setting (volunteer or paid), excellent communication and networking skills, strong media and writing/research skills, confident and assertive attitude, and familiarity and comfort with direct action. The Forest Campaigner must have excellent time-management and organizational skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Though the Forest Campaigner reports directly to the Campaign Director, he/she must be able to work with minimum supervision.

Previous successful campaign experience is required; direct action experience is an asset.

Familiarity with computer and Internet skills is an asset. Graduate degrees in forest conservation, forestry, environmental sciences, or ecology will be given preference. A drivers license is needed.

Job Responsibilities include:
Coordination of Earthroots' forest programs, research, networking and working in coalition with other wilderness conservation organizations, volunteer coordination, group facilitation, events and action planning, public and media relations.

Successful candidates will:

Develop and coordinate old-growth, boreal and larger clearcut campaigns;

Research and implement market campaigns;

Represent Earthroots and Earthroots campaigns to the public and the media through a well-developed outreach and media plan;

Mobilize grassroots activists on key forest issues;

Write publications for Earthroots projects;

Strategically plan Earthroots campaigns with other staff;

In coordination with the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator, supervise interns and volunteers working on campaign activities;

Share office responsibilities to maintain a healthy and safe work place;

Report to Campaign Director regularly on accomplishments and plans of action.
