Investors’ Circle is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Associate Director. The Associate Director manages all day-to-day aspects of this small entrepreneurial organization and reports to the Board of Directors. The Associate Director is the most senior staff-level position in the organization below the CEO.
Investors’ Circle is a non-profit national network of investors who believe that business - not government or philanthropy - must lead the transition to a sustainable economy. IC members seek to balance environmental, social, and financial returns on their investments and since 1992 have invested over $80 million in 120 socially responsible private companies and small venture funds. Companies supported by our members range from alternative power technology to organic foods to socially responsible dot-coms.
The Associate Director’s responsibilities include:
o Planning and executing at least four major events per year, including two venture fairs, a 150-person national conference, and a members’ retreat.
o Attracting and retaining corporate sponsorships and philanthropic funds.
o Negotiating and coordinating relationships with strategic institutional partners.
o Evaluating business plans. Helping entrepreneurs prepare fund raising presentations.
o Managing all financial statements and bookkeeping activities.
o Coordinating all board meetings and reports.
o Supervising one full-time associate, as well as outside consultants, and part-time interns.
Desired qualifications for the position include:
o MBA and undergraduate degree, or equivalent educational background;
o At least 5-7 years work experience, preferably in a small business;
o Proven professional experience and interest in an entrepreneurial nonprofit organization or a socially responsible business. Commitment to our mission;
o Outstanding written and verbal communication and marketing skills;
o Fund raising experience preferred;
o Understanding of and ability to produce and interpret financial statements;
o Strong organizational skills, including events planning experience;
o The capacity to work and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial organization with a collaborative environment.
