The University of California Cooperative Extension (CE) seeks qualified applicants for a Watershed Management Advisor in the Counties of Orange (headquarters) & San Diego, CA. (#ACCSO-02-01)
This position is not a career-track CE Advisor position. It is for a maximum of 5 yrs., with consideration for renewal at the end of 2 yrs & 4 yrs.
Advisor will provide an educational & applied research program to address sources of pollution from public & private landscapes & agricultural activities, primarily nurseries. Priority issues to address are water quality, watershed mgmt., non-point source pollution, and TMDL's. Work closely with current stakeholders, facilitating exchange of info. on water quality & watershed mgmt. options. Develop & extend scientific info. on sources of pollution, particularly of urban & nursery origin.
Minimum of a Master's Degree in plant, environ. or ag sciences, or closely related field is required. Coursework in agronomy, horticulture (landscape and nursery), plant science, soil science, water hydrology, & statistics is desirable. Demonstrated familiarity with emerging issues in these areas, & demonstrated ability to integrate & apply knowledge from these disciplines to watershed mgmt. in above counties.
Beginning annual salary will be in the CE Asst. to Assoc. rank, commensurate with applicable exper. & professional qual's.
