Description

~ Global Footprint Network promotes a sustainable economy by advancing the Ecological Footprint, a tool that makes sustainability measurable. ~

Together with our partners, we coordinate research, develop methodological standards, and provide decision makers with robust tools to help the human economy operate within the Earth's ecological limits. We work with local and national governments, investors, and opinion leaders to ensure all people live well, within the means of nature.

Because resource constraints and environmental risks, such as climate change, are having an increasing impact on the economic health of nations, many in the finance industry are seeking new tools to guide investment decisions, especially in relation to country risk and sovereign bonds.

In order to address this gap, Global Footprint Network has launched its Finance for Change Program. Finance for Change seeks to create a systemic shift in the way investors measure resource risk. If significant shifts in investment patterns occur as a result of better risk models, this will also send a strong signal to governments that improved management of their natural assets is essential to their economic performance.
