Description
The Woods Project is a non-profit that works with low income high school youth. Our program utilizes wilderness education experiences to develop life and leadership skills and confidence so that our students are fully equipped to be the first in their families to go to college.
Position Overview:
Our program is volunteer run. We are seeking a total of 37 volunteer leaders to work with 144 youth at outstanding wilderness locations including the Marin Coast, Yosemite National Park, Desolation Wilderness, and Donner Pass from July 11 to July 25, 2008. We are also seeking leaders to work with our students in Houston, TX, Oakland, CA, and northern North Carolina during the school year.
Qualifications:
Our leaders are people who are energized by being in wonderful wilderness areas with outstanding youth having great intellectual curiosity. Leaders must be able to participate in moderately strenuous outdoor activities. We have a core of highly motivated leaders ranging in age from 19 to 67 and are looking for folks who want to join our great team.
Leaders participate in activiites with the youth that range from day hikes and hands on classroom work to 5 night backpacking experiences. Please refer to our website for additional information about our program.
