Description

We are an Eco/Holistic Educational Organic Farm and Retreat Center in Upstate NY. Our 90 acre property is at a 2000 ft elevation with an 8 acre lake, several ponds & creeks and mostly wooded. We specialize in spirituality, sustainability, healing, heritage produce, livestock, flower essence, aromatherapy and herbal products.

We have extensive gardens full of medicinal & culinary herbs, small fruits and produce. The breeds of chickens, ducks, pigs and rabbits, that we've chosen for the farm, are all on the American Livestock Conservancy's list of critical, watching or recovering species. We also have dairy goats and make cheese, yogurt and kefir.

Position Overview:

Looking for a Winter Farm Assistant/Manager (potentially longer if the situation works for everyone).  Non smokers, no alcohol or drug use.

Our ideal situation would be a long term synergistic partnership with a couple or a group of individuals looking to create a wholistic, sustainable community.

Opportunities would be available to teach, learn and share. We are working on putting a 24'x48' hoop house over some of our existing raised beds so we can raise food over the winter. We also have a coliseum aeroponic system that we would like to get set up and experiment with.

We have a room available in our main building with use of facilities (kitchen & bath).

Responsibilities:

This person or persons need to be able to focus, multitask and have awareness of their actions and the potential results of those actions. Balanced and self directed learners, creative problem solvers and people able to think outside of the box, those with the passion to experiment. Experience is helpful but even more important is a willingness to learn and be open.

Qualifications:

  • We have the land and a vision and need the intelligent input and energy from those that want to learn and share their gifts.
  • Plant knowledge, building/carpentry skills, alternative energy knowledge, previous farm experience and management skills definitely a plus.

To Apply:

Please call Rachel Ginther.
