Description
As the largest electric utility in Kansas, our energy centers include wind, coal, nuclear energy, natural gas and landfill gas generation.
Position Overview:
The Site Manager directs and oversees personnel, service, repair, maintenance, and operations on wind turbine generators, related equipment, support equipment, and facilities for all Westar owned sites. This includes development of and compliance with an operating budget, outage coordination and scheduling, and oversight of operations and maintenance to ensure work is carried out using prudent utility practices.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include landowner relations; negotiating wind farm O&M contracts, managing contractual agreements for plant site operation and maintenance; turbine operation, maintenance, performance, and warranty; and establishing and monitoring spare part quantities and supplies for turbines and related support equipment, working with both external entities and various internal groups, such as Legal, Environmental Services, Generation Construction, Marketing, Operations Strategy & Support, Procurement, Human Resources, etc.

- Manages, directs, plans and coordinates wind power plant operations and maintenance activities including coordination with contract maintenance workers of the turbine supplier and managing operation and maintenance budgets.
- Supports and maintains local, public and landowner relations.
- Address concerns at community, local, governmental and regulatory bodies.
- Administers contracts and manages all on-site contractor activities.
- Maintains regulatory compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and associated permits, including all applicable safety, health and environmental regulations.
- Daily and monthly reporting compliance for internal customers and regulatory agencies.
- Implements, manages, updates, and maintains plant procedures, site policies, training programs, safety programs, and work practices.
- Oversees and administers site computer hardware/software systems including the predictive maintenance and work asset management systems, PI, and plant SCADA.
- Manages warehouse and inventory program.
- Develops and implements processes and procedures to assure compliance with internal controls.
- Possesses excellent project management skills to be utilized in the execution of assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
Essential Functions:
Experience in direct supervision of a wind farm O&M crew required. Experience with system operations and maintenance on rotating or electrical equipment. Experience with high voltage maintenance and switching, plant SCADA systems, large mechanical equipment, and computerized maintenance management systems. Must demonstrate the ability to work independently, IT knowledge, good oral and written communications skills, excellent project management skills, and experience in directing a team. Must be willing and able to climb wind turbine towers in the fulfillment of the duties described herein.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma and experience in wind farm operation and maintenance including basic equipment overhaul and developing maintenance programs. A bachelor's degree in engineering or business is preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required:
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Relocation is available for this position.
Compensation: Pay Range:
- E $67,200 to $84,000
- DD $73,700 to $92,100
- D $82,900 to $103,600
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
