Position Overview: 

Provide instruction to students in the Wind Energy Technologies program, including instruction for climber safety, worker at height, and high angle rescue. Responsible for placing learning first and providing educational experiences for learners in various formats, schedules, and in various places in accordance with the mission of the college inclusive of: facilitating learning, assessing student performance, as well as instruction and outcomes, developing and maintaining current/relevant course materials, and communicating with the community, other schools, the college, the division, and team members. Remain current with the curriculum and trends in the industry.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with 6,000 hours of related occupational experience in wind technology systems ~OR~ an Associate's degree in a related field with 7,000 hours of related occupational experience required ~OR~ 14,000 hours of related occupational experience.
  • Technical expertise or significant working knowledge of all major technical areas related to wind energy, such as: understanding of the resource, conversion technologies, and manufacturing processes; storage systems, grid integration, and transmission issues; operational and reliability requirements; and diagnostic and control systems.
  • Participation in professional staff orientation program is required.
  • Working knowledge of PC software in a windows environment.
  • Must be innovative and able to collaborate with other staff for developing curriculum for classroom instruction.
  • Must be well motivated and have a strong interest in contributing to the success of the College.
  • Positive human relations and effective written and oral communication skills essential.

Preferred:

  • Wind Farm Technician experience with megawatt scale wind turbines strongly preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred. If no Bachelor's and/or Master's degree, individual hired will be required to enroll in an accredited Bachelor's and/or Master's degree program in a related discipline.
  • Teaching or training experience beneficial.
  • Experience in delivering instruction by alternative methods such as instructional television or online.
  • Must possess excellent classroom delivery skills, which encourage success and participation on the part of students.
  • Ability to relate successfully with students, staff, and general public of diverse cultural, social or educational backgrounds.
  • Fluent, bilingual individual who has experience working with culturally diverse populations is desirable.
