The Veggie Van Organization is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with the mission "to educate people about sustainable energy and provide pathways for integrating sustainable energy into schools, homes, communities, cities, states and ultimately nations."
The 2009 focus of the Veggie Van Organization is greening America's schools. To that end, the nonprofit entity has licensed a 35-minute educational cut of the Sundance Award winning movie, FUEL. The organization is working to distribute the educational version of FUEL to every school in America - for free - along with a 'Green Curriculum'. Both the movie and the accompanying curriculum are designed to empower students to take action - first to green their school and then to green their homes and communities.
Position Overview:
Wanted: in-house web site programmer / builder with a strong background in programming and server side setup to work in an upbeat, small progressive nonprofit organization dedicated to green energy.
Our web sites for reference are Veggie Van, The Fuel Film and Josh Tickell.
Qualifications:
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a command of programming languages such as C++, Perl, Javascript, HTML and XML (knowledge of Drupal and Ruby on Rails a huge plus) and should be facile with integrating web 2.0 apps such as Twitter, ConstantContact etc. Applicants need not have any background in design, but must be adept at executing complete designs. Applicants should be group oriented and happy to work in a close knit team, be positive, motivated, goal oriented and enjoy making a difference in the world.
Compensation: Pay is decided based on experience.
Location: Our office is located in Santa Monica.
