Position Overview:
Green Building Advisor, a new home-building resource from BuildingGreen, is looking for an energetic, web-savvy Web Producer to build an active community and to help create and produce videos, blogs and multimedia content for its Web site. Successful candidates will have strong web editorial and web management experience and an eye for audience development and user experience.
2 primary responsibilities of the web producer will be actively engaging and developing the online community and optimizing the website and its homepage for search engine traffic, user experience, and user engagement. Will work closely with Green Building Advisor's managing editor and publisher.
Responsibilities:
- Manage production of new web material, including videos, blogs, and multimedia content.
- Develop ideas for improving the user experience on our website
- Manage and optimize the home page of greenbuildingadvisor.com
- Maximize the visitor interaction and engagement
- Work with our editorial and marketing team to improve conversion of visitors to repeat visitors, convert home page views to multiple page viewers, increase time spent on site and other relevant engagement metrics, and convert visitors to paying members and product buyers.
- Assist with oversight and interact with online community discussion
- Participate in Q&A forum (answer questions, pose questions, increase engagement
- Moderate reader comments throughout the site, maintain appropriateness, increase engagement (ie. Solicit comments and other feedback)
- Assist in maintaining blogs, suggesting ideas and concepts for blog entries and helping maintain strong relationships with contributors and outside bloggers.
- Optimize web content for SEO Review other websites, communities, blogs, etc. to find exciting opportunities and content
- Assist in editorial strategy of the website
- Use web analytics to direct content creation and editorial calendar
- Develop and maintain relationships within the industry to collaborate on content distribution and audience development
Qualifications:
We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized and collaborative self-starter who can juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- 5+ years experience creating and managing web content on an interactive, content-based website
- Experience managing online communities and content
- Ability to write and produce content for the web quickly and accurately
- An understanding of Web2 .0 and online publishing trends
- Proficient with desktoppublishing software, content management systems, and web-based publishing tools
- Ability to examine detail-level data to understand larger trends
- Experience with using Google Analytics or other analytic tools
- Experience with editing and updating XML and HTML content
- Passion for environmentally responsible and sustainable practices
- Passion for green home building a plus
- Extremely strong computer skills
